Nefertiri Arabic Dance Company
is run by Jane Brooker
Jane has been dancing and loving it since she was
5years old. Initially learning ballet, she explored dance
and choreography in various styles before specialising
in arabic in 2004. From 2005-2007 she studied with
Katie Holland, completing intensives in Technique and
understanding Rhythm before Katie left for India. She
has also studied with Catherine Bartholomew, Gwen
Booth, Yvette Cowles, Harriet Gervasio, Niina Martin,
Storm and Ashrah Hassan and done workshops at
Bodies & Beats and Elemental
In 2007 Jane, with some dancing friends, formed Nefertiri Arabic Dancers, a small troupe which began performing in charity events and festivals in the Worthing area and soon grew in popularity.
Later that year, she started her fun and fitness bellydance classes, which has since developed into a full programme of classes and workshops for beginners and improvers, also children's and teenager's classes. The latter have formed into Neferteens, a teenage troupe. All dancers who attend Jane's classes can now join Nefertiri Arabic Dancers and perform at charity events and festivals.
Jane also performs at private events, eg weddings, hen parties etc Most recently, Jane and some of the dancers have formed a small troupe available for private hire, called Nefertiri Gems..."
Jane along with Karen Simporis started Nefertiri Nights a monthly Hafla, which is a great chance to put into practice all those dance moves and socialise with firends.
